Tanuki name generator
This name generator will give you 10 random names for tanuki and similar beings, focused on the mythological version rather than the real animal. The names can work for both though.
Tanuki, or bake-danuki, is a yokai (a type of supernatural being) from Japanes mythology. They're spiritual animals similar to a kitsune, except their form is that of a raccoon dog like that of the real life version the mythological one is based on. They're able to shapeshift into humans, a power they mostly use to trick people and make them look stupid.
Tanuki are also said to drum on their large bellies, creating mysterious drumming sounds heard by travelers in another attempt at trickery.
In this name generator you'll find 2 types of names. The first 5 results represent the first type, which is real names often used for pets. The last 5 results are randomized names based on Japanese names. I've separated them into feminine and masculine only based on the basis of names I used, but all names can be considered unisex.
